[en]Various agencies gang up to combat the use of [w]illicit[/w] drugs.[/en][cn]各个机构联合起来对抗非法药品的使用。[/cn] [en]Every year, all the kids gang up on me and throw me in the pool.[/en][cn]每年,孩子们都对我群起而攻之,将我抛入游泳池。[/cn] 2. caught in the middle:被夹在中间,左右为难。 [en]If you take over Dora's job, you are sure to be caught in the middle.[/en][cn]如果接替多拉的工作,你一定会被搞得进退两难。[/cn] [en]And caught in the middle of shareholders and the relevant departments, CSRC is currently estimated that dilemma.[/en][cn]而夹在股民和相关部门中间的证监会目前估计左右为难。

Markkula would become a father figure to Jobs. Like Jobs’s adoptive father, he would indulge Jobs’s strong will, and like his biological father, he would end up abandoning him. He began to teach Jobs about marketing and sales. “Mike really took me under his wing,” Jobs recalled. “His values were much [w=align]aligned[/w] with mine.” Markkula wrote his [w=principle]principles[/w] in a one-page paper titled “The Apple Marketing Philosophy” that stressed three points. The first was empathy, an intimate connection with the feelings of the customer: “We will truly understand their needs better than any other company.” The second was focus: “In order to do a good job of those things that we decide to do, we must eliminate all of the unimportant opportunities.” The third and equally important principle, awkwardly named, was impute. It emphasized that people form an opinion about a company or product based on the signals that it conveys. “People DO judge a book by its cover,” he wrote. “We may have the best product, the highest quality, the most useful software etc.; if we present them in a slipshod manner, they will be perceived as [w]slipshod[/w]; if we present them in a creative, professional manner, we will impute the desired qualities.” 1. take me under his wing:照顾、庇护、帮助(某人)。 [en]I wouldn’t have gotten promoted as quickly if my boss hadn’t taken me under his wing at work. [/cn] 想要表达照顾、保护某人时,还有一个类似的短语:give wings [en]Megan’s history teacher give wings to her during her first semester in high school.

Earlier this month, we learned that Ashton Kutcher was poised to play the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in an indie [w]biopic[/w]. The news made sense for some reasons (the physical similarities), but came as a bit of a surprise for other reasons (he’s Ashton Kutcher). At the time we didn’t really know much about the project beyond the fact that Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) is directing, and the film, going by the terrible working title Jobs: Get Inspired, will [w]chronicle[/w] the innovator’s life “from a wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple.” Now producer Mark Hulme has spilled a few details about the project, including how they feel about Sony’s competing Jobs biopic and why they think Kutcher is their man to play the lead role. Hit the jump to see what he had to say. During an interview with Neowin (via /Film), Hulme revealed that Jobs will primarily focus on the early years of Apple, “its founding and the up and down years: 1971-2000.” They’re pulling from a variety of sources for their research, and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, former Apple CEOs John Skully and Mike Markkula, and early Apple employee Daniel Kottke are all characters that will factor into the film. As for the casting of Kutcher, Hulme had this to say: “Since our film covers the early years of Apple, when Jobs was in his 20′s, we needed an actor who could carry not only the youthfulness of Jobs at the time but also the psychological [w]complexity[/w]. Because of that, and Ashton’s physical similarities to Jobs, he’s perfect for our film… When Ashton read the script he was immediately attracted to the project. He is a Steve Jobs and Apple fan, and is technologically savvy, as well, so he recognized the historical importance of Steve Jobs and the potential of the project. He is very excited to have the role.” Hulme revealed that they began researching and writing the screenplay immediately after Jobs’ retirement was announced as a result of the enormous impact the news had on Hulme’s staff. As such, they’re much further ahead than Sony’s competing project: “Sony is a highly respected company, and Isaacson’s book is a great read. But our project was in development even before the release of Isaacson’s book and our movie will be out well before their movie.” The plan is to release the film during the fourth quarter of this year, and distribution deals are currently in the works. I’m not exactly wild about Kutcher playing Jobs, but I’d love nothing more than to be pleasantly surprised by a wonderful performance. Luckily we don’t have to wait very long to find out how Jobs: Get Inspired comes together given how quickly things are moving forward.
