In each photograph, the artist tells a story about a man and his “private moon.” According to Leonid Tishkov, “Private Moon” is a collection of [w]visual[/w] poems telling the story of a man who met the Moon and stayed with her for the rest of his life.  In the upper world, or the [w]attic[/w] of the man’s own house, he saw the Moon falling out of the sky. She hid from the Sun in a dark and [w]damp[/w] [w]tunnel[/w], but was frightened by the passing trains. The story then began when she came to the man’s house. Having [w=wrap]wrapped[/w] the Moon with warm blankets, the man treated her with autumn apples, gave her a cup of tea, and when she got well, he took her in his boat across the dark river to the high bank [w]overgrown[/w] with [w]pine[/w] trees. Dressed in the clothes of his deceased father, he [w=descend]descended[/w] into the lower world, and then returned from there, lighting up the path with his Moon. Crossing the [w]borderline[/w] between the two worlds across a narrow bridge [w]immersed[/w] in a dream, and taking care of this heavenly creature, the man became a [w]mythological[/w] being living in a real world as in a [w]fairy[/w] [w]tale[/w]. Each photograph is a [w]poetic[/w] tale, a little poem in its own right (靠自身的力量). Leonid Tishkov said, “Each picture is accompanied by a piece of [w]verse[/w], which I wrote when I drew my [w=sketch]sketches[/w] for the photographs.
