北京奥组委开闭幕式工作部部长张和平说，在开幕式文艺表演的结尾部分，也就是《梦想》表演段落里，将首次公开演唱开幕式主题歌。这首主题歌是从奥组委历时五年、举办了四届的奥运歌曲征集评选活动中脱颖而出，并经专门的评审程序确定的。为尊重大家对神秘的期待，今天仍然不公布这首主题歌的相关信息。但可以公布的是：主题歌长度为三分多钟，演唱者是中国著名歌手刘欢和英国著名歌手莎拉·布莱曼。
